Story With a Photo: Willingness to do Anything

During Multicultural Week, clubs and class booths do their best to attract customers to their foodstuffs since this week is one of the main fundraisers for them. While most have either simple, practical posters or more witty posters, some also have people wandering around and screaming at the top of their lungs. Still others employ organization staff who are either more willing to endure embarrassment and humiliation or simply don't have an embarrassment complex. At a booth in the back left of the horseshoe, one of the most creative and memorable advertisements was this boy dancing like a cheerleader in front of it to attract customers. I am seriously considering wasting a dollar or two just to reward his hard work and dedication.

MSJMCW Story

During one week every year, we are allowed to proudly distinguish ourselves by ethnicity and share our cultures with the rest of the school. For one week, the mass of Asian, White, Black, and everything-in-between faces are able to differentiate themselves into where exactly everyone is from, instead of just being faces. With a week of different foods than what we would normally have, on and off campus, we can splurge on different tastes while learning and assimilating somewhat to different cultures. At the end, the assembly displays cultures in a different, more entertaining way as an array of different performances from all corners of the world. During MC week, I take the chance to sample as many global foods as possible and treat myself to a different dessert every day, something I rarely have a chance to do. As a performer, I have really enjoyed dancing for the school and displaying my pride in my culture. Many of us are Asian, but most of us don't know the cultures of music and dance that are hugely important to the locals in those countries. I like educating people on the styles of traditional dances that aren't as popular in Western society, if they're acknowledged at all. It presents a different side of what's considered "dance" than what most people think of when they think of "dance".
